De Big Ben, London Eye, Tower Bridge en Buckingham Palace: allemaal must-sees die je voor geen goud mag missen wanneer je een reisje naar Londen boekt. Maar het zijn niet alleen de Instagram-waardige locaties die Londen tot een geweldige stad maken. Je raadt het al… Ze hebben er ook ge-wel-dig lekker eten. Maar echt. Van de iconische fish and chips tot de heerlijkste locale gerechten en zoetste snacks, er is voor ieder wat wils!
Vorig jaar bezocht ik deze levendige stad tijdens een studiereis. Een geweldige ervaring en ik zou zeker een keer terug willen om nog meer leuke hotspots te bezoeken. Tips zijn dus zeker welkom! Tussen alle schoolopdrachten door probeerde ik zoveel mogelijk hotspots te bezoeken die mij de moeite waard leken. Dit zijn ze!
#1. Wafflemeister, Oxford Street
Voor ijs, frozen yogurt, koffie en Belgische wafels moet je bij Wafflemeister in Oxford Street zijn. Van simpele naturel wafels tot gigantische wafels met een topping van marshmallows, sprinkles en chocolade, Wafflemeister heeft het allemaal.
#2. Tower Bridge
De Tower Bridge is een echte toeristische attractie en is te vinden bij de rivier de Theems, vlak naast de Tower of London. Een prachtige brug die ook nog eens Instagram worthy is!
#3. Harrods
Harrods is ‘s werelds beroemdste warenhuis en is te vinden op Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, Londen. Naast alle kleding en sieraden die ze verkopen, zijn er ook food hallen te vinden en een heuse toy kingdom. Het is wel een duur warenhuis, maar zeker leuk om doorheen te lopen!
#4. Big Ben
De iconische klok van het Parlementshuis is een van de meest beroemde herkenningspunten in Londen. En terecht, want kijk eens wat een prachtige plaatjes het oplevert! De Big Ben is te vinden in Westminster, naast de rivier de Theems.
#5. Choccywoccydoodah
In Shorts Gardens is een piepklein winkeltje verstopt waar alles van chocolade gemaakt is: Choccywoccydoodah. #Heaven! Misschien ken je de winkel al wel van het gelijknamige programma dat op TLC te zien is. Ik was echt verbaasd om te zien hoe klein het binnen eigenlijk is, je kunt je kont er nauwelijks keren wanneer er meer dan drie mensen binnen lopen haha. Maar het is zo gaaf om alle mooie creaties van chocolade te zien!
#6. Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is te vinden in Westminster en is de officiële residentie van de Britse monarch in Londen. Leuk feitje: als de koningin aanwezig is, zal de koninklijke vlag op het dak te zien zijn. Is ze er niet, dan wordt de Britse vlag (Union flag) gehesen.
#7. David Bowie Tribute Wall, Brixton
In Brixton, de geboorteplaats van David Bowie, is de David Bowie Tribute Wall te vinden. Twee jaar na zijn dood leggen mensen nog steeds elke dag bloemen voor de muur neer om hun respect te tonen. Een mooie plaats direct tegenover het metrostation van Brixton die zeker de moeite waard is om te bezoeken.
#8. Happy Donuts, Portobello Road
Op Portobello Road is een klein donutzaakje te vinden met de allerlekkerste donuts ever. Ik bedoel, donuts gevuld met Nutella, red velvet donuts én Oreo donuts? Yes please!
#9. Shoreditch Street Art Tours
De Street Art Tour is zeker de moeite waard wanneer je tijd over hebt in Londen. De tour gaat dwars door Shoreditch en de tourleiders zijn echt supergezellig. Je leert van alles over graffiti en ziet kunstwerken van onder andere de bekende Banksy. Een echte aanrader!
#10. Hyde Park
Hyde Park is een gigantisch park in Londen en is heerlijk als je even aan alle drukte van Londen wil ontsnappen. Het park ligt in hartje Londen en staat in verbinding met Kensington Gardens.
#11. Dunkin’ Donuts
Oké, dit is niet echt Brits… Maar wie houdt er nou niet van donuts?

The Big Ben, London Eye, Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace: all must see places that you definitely have to visit during your trip in London. But these Instagram worthy locations aren’t the only great things to see while you’re in this amazing city. As you might already have guessed… The food in London is THE BEST. But really. From the iconic fish and chips to delicious local dishes and snacks that will satisfy the sweetest tooth, there’s something for everyone!
I had the best time in this beautiful city last year during my study trip. It was an amazing experience and I would definitely want to go back someday to visit more hotspots. So all suggestions are welcomed! I tried to see as many hot spots as possible when we had some free time and here they are!
#1. Wafflemeister, Oxford Street
Wafflemeister in Oxford Street is the place to be for every hungry person. They sell ice cream, frozen yogurt, coffee and delicious Belgian waffles. From simple plain waffles to giant waffles topped with marshmallows, sprinkles and chocolate. You name it, they’ve got it.
#2. Tower Bridge
The Tower Bridge is a major touristic attraction and crosses the river Thames. You can find the bridge next to the Tower of London. A beautiful and Instagram worthy location!
#3. Harrods
Harrods is the world’s most famous department store and is located on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, London. They have food halls, a toy kingdom, jewellery and of course lots of clothes. A little expensive, but amazing to see!
#4. Big Ben
The Houses of Parliament’s iconic clock tower is one of London’s most famous landmarks and I can totally see why. Look at all the beautiful pictures you can take there! Big Ben is found in the Elizabeth Tower at the north end of The Houses of Parliament in Westminster, Central London, next to the river Thames.
#5. Choccywoccydoodah
On Shorts Garden, you can find a tiny shop called Choccywoccydoodah where everything is made of chocolate. #Heaven! You might already have heard of this shop because you’ve seen their TV series. I was really surprised to see how tiny the shop is in real life. You can barely move when there are a view other people inside haha. But it is so cool to see every beautiful chocolate creation!
#6. Buckingham Palace
You can find Buckingham Palace In Westminster, London. This is the official London residence of the UK’s sovereigns. Fun fact: if the Britisch flag (Union flag) is flying above the residence, the Queen is not in residence. But if you can see the Royal Standard flying above Buckingham Palace, the Queen is in residence.
#7. David Bowie Tribute Wall, Brixton
The David Bowie Tribute Wall can be found in David Bowie’s birthplace, Brixton. Two years after his death, people are still visiting the wall to pay respect and to leave flowers. It’s a beautiful place directly opposite the Brixton tube station that’s worth the visit.
#8. Happy Donuts, Portobello Road
There’s a little donut shop on Portobello Road where you can buy the most delicious donuts ever. I mean, donuts filled with Nutella, red velvet donuts AND Oreo donuts? Yes please!
#9. Shoreditch Street Art Tours
If you have enough time to visit London, then you should definitely experience street art and graffiti on a guided Street Art Tour in Shoreditch. The tour leaders are really, really nice and they know exactly what they’re talking about. Discover street art from famous artists like Banksy and learn everything about graffiti. I recommend this!
#10. Hyde Park
Hyde Park is a giant park in the heart of London. This is a great place if you would like to relax and unwind. This park is also connected to Kensington Gardens.
#11. Dunkin’ Donuts
Okay, this is not really British. But who doesn’t love donuts?
