You might have already spotted a few tropical photos on my Instagram account, since I have been to sunny Aruba last week. And which place do you definitely NEED to visit when you go to Aruba? Flamingo beach of course, duh!

Before we headed to the Caribbean island, I searched all over the internet to find the best way to visit Flamingo beach since it’s a private island. Luckily we found the perfect way, so we could even stay one night in the luxurious Renaissance Resort and visit the private island for TWO DAYS instead of one. And guess what? It only cost us $25 dollars more than one regular day pass to Flamingo beach!

“Wait a minute…tell me how!”

Its pretty simple, actually. Flamingo beach belongs to the Renaissance Casino & Resort. So if you want to visit their beach, you have to buy their day pass. One day pass costs $125 and gives you acces to the private island for one day including the boat transfer, lunch on the island and a refreshing drink. One side of the island is Flamingo beach and the other side is Iguana beach (Yep, you can really find iguanas there!). You’re allowed to visit both sides. But there’s only one little thing… Day passes are only sold when the hotel isn’t at an 80% occupancy rate. So chances are that they don’t even sell them when you want to visit the island.

And if they do sell day passes, you have to be really fast: you can’t make a reservation, so you have to buy the passes on the day you want to visit Flamingo beach. Plus they only sell a maximum of 30 passes each day, so chances are you arrive at the resort early and find out that they are already sold out. Bummer!

But here comes the genius solution. All guests staying at the Renaissance Resort have free acces to the private island. FREE ACCES! You can visit the island as many times as you want and there’s a boat transfer waiting for you every 15 minutes in the resort to take you there. Right now you’re probably thinking something like: “Sounds good. But isn’t this 4 star resort really expensive?” Not a weird thought.

But I can tell you that me and my boyfriend stayed in the Marina hotel – which is the adults only part of the resort – for one night for $150 per person. That’s only 25 dollar more than a day pass to the island, if you’re already lucky enough to get one. And for this price you even get a night at the resort, lots of luxury and you can even visit Flamingo beach and Iguana beach for TWO DAYS (the day you check-in and the day you check-out). Yes please!

So if you’re planning your vacation to Aruba and you definitely want to visit Flamingo beach, it is a great option to book one night at Renaissance Casino & Resort. This way you don’t have to stand in front of their hotel at 6 AM to buy a day pass before they’re sold out and you can give yourself a little luxury during your stay on this sunny island. I did not regret this choice at all and I would definitely do this again if I ever go back to Aruba. It left me a lot of fun memories and amazing photos!
